We Need a Revolution.

It is happening now - We ARE the R3volution. We will die trying or achieve personal liberty. When a majority understands what achieving personal liberty means it will be achieved. Will we achieve this majority? I hope so.

But what is "personal liberty"? Here's where it gets tricky... it is so many different things. It is the Right to live, travel, learn, play and work towards the pursuit of your happiness, with the restraint of not restricting another's Right to the same. Why? Natural Law, God's Law, The Golden Rule, whatever you want to go with but ultimately because it just feels Right. I have not come across an argument** that successfully argues otherwise.
**A VALID argument; ie, not based on claims of divine favor, supernatural ability, ignorance of basic scientific principles, discriminatory towards involuntary traits, class based or elitist.

It is the right to be secure in your person and property**. In any case it includes a right to self defense. In special cases the right to self defense is extended to third parties, neighbors or strangers if you witness an assault, attempted or achieved, or an immediate threat is present.
**This definition might irk some socialists, but steal their car and see how fast they change their tune. I am more of a socialist than many of them, but I subscribe to a more natural and voluntary philosophy of socialism. Small socialist communities already exist and I hope that they will expand in numbers. Eventually, certain technological advances could lead to an abundance of resources which would make the concept of money as a store of "value" antiquated.

Somehow (ooh me, I know! I know!), corporatism has been re-branded as capitalism, oligarchical fascism has been re-branded as representational democracy and corporate welfare has been re-branded as socialism. Oh, boy! How the times change (the meaning of words). Liberal has been redefined. Conservative, Free Market, Democracy, etc., slowly adjusted over time until they have a new definition in the public understanding. '1984' started long before 1984.

Honestly, I do not believe We will allow it to devolve into the 84' scenario of a military regime. Call me an optimist, but I don't believe Americans will tolerate an attempt to impose martial law without taking to the streets. En masse; with guns. Even a credible false flag event will lead to riots and chaos. The tension is in the air and it is naive or worse to ignore it. Talk of civil war and secession has reached peak levels.

Absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a New 9/11 - the Brave New World scenario makes more sense to me.. Booted up, jacked in, always on infinite info feeds, communication streams, augmented physical and virtual reality, shared consciousness, nanotech marvels, resonant realities, genetic miracles, quantum dreams and the promise of artificial nirvana will keep an increasing number entertained and distracted. The implications and impact of these things are enormous and probably unavoidable. Game Changers.

The primary threat to the realization of the most beneficial aspects of this info-revolution is the centralization of power, which seems to be on a fast track to worldwide consolidation of the economic and political spheres. Without immediate action and considerable effort of a majority (or a tireless minority, unlikely) We will be denied the ability to explore our future in peace. I hope We can come together soon enough. I imagine emotional Hands Across America type stuff were we all just come out of our houses at the same time and talk to our neighbors and say "Hey, we have to work together!" and then group hug and have some beers and bbq before we tackle the New World Order.

Back in the real world, I'm gonna go to work tomorrow. I'll fix some computers and install some software. On Friday I get payed and I'll pay my bills and give a few bucks to a few campaigns for positions in an organization which I believe to be fraudulent and illegitimate. I'll be polite to people and pretend I'm not ready to explode because I know at that moment there are people exploding on the other side of the Earth. Blown to bits, voluntarily or not, innocent or guilty. I will laugh when someone says something funny because I will not be thinking about the people in my community who are hungry, suffering abuse, dependent and depressed at *that* particular moment. I will stay the course and when I hear the call, if it is genuine I will respond armed only with my mind and body.

Really well written, thanks for posting on the Ron Paul CT mailing list! So many people probably feel the same you do.
